The Short Answer
An echocardiogram at BlackPoint is $397 at our Falmouth imaging center, or $597 on-site at your home or workplace in Southern Maine. That is the whole price. There is no facility fee, no separate reading fee, and no referral requirement.
We publish the price because most places do not. If you have called a hospital and been told the cost depends on your plan, your deductible and which department does the billing, that is the difference.

The Study
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound of your heart. It shows the chambers, the valves and how well the muscle is pumping, using sound waves — no needles, no radiation, no dye. The study takes 45 to 60 minutes.

An EKG records the heart's electrical activity over a few seconds. An echocardiogram is an ultrasound image of the heart's structure and motion. They answer different questions, and a normal EKG does not rule out what an echocardiogram can show.
