The Reason for Five

Why Five Territories, Not One

Atherosclerosis is not a local problem. It is a disease of the artery lining, and it does not confine itself to one part of the body. Finding it in one place is a strong reason to look in the others.

Plaque in one artery predicts plaque in others

The same process that narrows a carotid artery is at work in the aorta, the kidneys and the legs. Screening a single territory and stopping produces reassurance that the other four have not earned.

Each territory fails differently, and silently

A narrowed carotid threatens a stroke. An enlarging aorta threatens a rupture with no warning. Narrowed renal arteries drive resistant hypertension. Blocked leg arteries threaten wounds that will not heal. Failing leg veins cause swelling and clots.

One visit, one reader, one report

Five studies performed in a single sitting and read by the same cardiologist, so a pattern across territories is visible rather than scattered across five separate reports and five separate days.

One honest note about what this package does not include. This is a vascular study — arteries and veins. It does not include an echocardiogram, so it does not assess how your heart is pumping or whether your valves are working. If you want the heart examined as well, the Complete Cardiovascular package adds it.

What Is Included

What Each Scan Shows

Carotid Duplex with IMT — about 30 minutes

Plaque, narrowing and artery-wall thickness in the arteries to the brain. More →

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screen — about 30 minutes

Measures the diameter of the body's largest artery. Aneurysms enlarge silently and rupture without warning. More →

Renal Arterial Doppler — about 45 minutes

Blood flow to both kidneys, and the velocities that indicate narrowing. More →

Lower Extremity Venous Doppler — about 30 minutes

Both legs, for vein-valve failure, varicose veins and deep vein clots. More →

Lower Extremity Arterial Ultrasound — about 30 minutes

Arterial flow to both legs, identifying narrowing that threatens wound healing. More →

All performed in the same visit by the same sonographer, and all read by the same cardiologist — so the findings are interpreted together rather than in isolation.

What Happens

Your Visit, Step by Step

About two and a half hours, start to finish. No needles, no radiation.

Before you come

Fast for six hours — the aortic and renal studies image through the abdomen and need a clear view. Water and medications as normal. Wear something easy to change out of.

Neck and abdomen — about an hour

Carotid arteries first, then the aorta and the renal arteries, with a few short breath-holds while the abdominal images are captured.

Both legs, arteries and veins — about an hour

Arterial flow first, then the venous study with gentle compression along the length of each leg.

A cardiologist reads all five

Board-certified, in a lab holding IAC accreditation in Vascular Testing — all five territories read by the same physician in one sitting.

Your report, within 24–48 hours

One written report covering all five studies, with measurements, formatted for your physician.

What We Detect

Conditions This Package
Can Identify

Combining these studies gives your cardiologist a comprehensive view that no single scan can provide.

The Honest Part

If We Find Something

Most people screen and get reassurance. Some do not — and that is the point of screening. Here is exactly what happens in that case.

The Numbers

Package vs Buying Separately

Separately — $1,985

Five studies at $397 each, booked one at a time. Separate appointments, separate trips, and reports read in isolation.

As a package — $1,797

One appointment, about two and a half hours. Every study read together by the same cardiologist, in one report. $188 less, and the days back.

No referral. No insurance. No prior authorization. The price you see is the price you pay, due at the appointment — HSA and FSA cards are accepted.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just screen the one artery I am worried about?

Because atherosclerosis is systemic. A clear carotid does not mean a clear aorta, and an aortic aneurysm gives no warning before it ruptures. If you have risk factors serious enough to screen one territory, the others carry the same exposure.

Does this include a heart scan?

No — and that is deliberate rather than an omission. This package covers arteries and veins. It does not assess pumping function or heart valves. If you want those included, the Complete Cardiovascular package adds an echocardiogram.

Is two and a half hours really necessary?

Five studies performed properly take that long. The alternative is five separate appointments over several weeks, five separate reports, and $188 more.

Do I need a referral in Maine?

No. You can book directly, with no referral, prior authorization or insurance approval.

Do I need to fast?

Yes, six hours — the aortic and renal portions image through the abdomen. Water and medications are fine.
