Swollen Ankles and Out of Breath Going Upstairs — Is It Your Heart?
When ankle swelling and breathlessness show up together, your body is sending a clear signal about your heart. An echocardiogram checks pump function, valves, and fluid — all in one scan, at home, this week.

What Happens During the Scan
Emanuel Papadakis, RDCS, RVT, comes to your home with hospital-grade portable ultrasound equipment. You don't need to prepare in any special way — no fasting, no contrast, no changing into a gown. You sit or lie comfortably on your couch or bed.
A small amount of ultrasound gel is applied to the chest and a transducer is gently moved to standard imaging positions. The scan is completely painless and uses no radiation. You can see your heart beating on-screen throughout. The full echocardiogram takes approximately 45 minutes.
Before leaving, Emanuel will walk you through the key findings in plain language — what the heart looked like, how it was pumping, whether the valves appeared normal, and whether anything stood out. The formal written report from the reviewing board-certified cardiologist arrives within 24–48 hours.
The report gives you — and any physician you choose to share it with — specific, actionable findings rather than a waiting game. If the echo is normal, you have meaningful reassurance. If a cause is identified, you have a clear next step.
